About Terex

About Terex® Corporation

1964 - RO Corporation

In 1964 the R.O. Corporation was founded in Olatha, KS by Ray Pittman. RO manufactured Boom Trucks from 20,000 lb - 70,000 capacity. R.O's "Stinger" brand was made famous throughout the 60's and 70's, and it largely credited for pioneering the Boom Truck as we know it today. The design elements of the original R.O. Stinger remain fundamentally in tact in today's modern Boom Trucks, and can even be seen in other brands, and even on much larger cranes used world-wide.

1997 - Terex Corporation

In 1997 Terex Corporation purchased The RO Corporation along with it's Stinger Brand of Boom Trucks.

2002 - Terex Acquires Demag

In 2002, Terex made a huge leap forward when it acquired German equipment manufacturer, Demag. Originally founded in 1906, Demag was noted as the largest crane manufacturer in Germany and it employed approximately 300 people.

Demag's century long pedigree of building some of the finest cranes in Europe would become a valuable asset to Terex, who spent the better part of the 2000's employing what they had learned into their US manufacturing plants, thus further refining the original R.O. "Stinger" boom truck design.

2002 - Terex Acquires Genie

Alongside their landmark purchase of Demag Cranes, in 2002 Terex was also busy acquiring Genie - a leading U.S. manufacturer of Arial Work Platforms. Genie was a good fit for Terex, who was at the time trying to build a complete product offering in the construction, man/material lift industry. This acquisition was also very significant for Terex because it had exposed Terex to the Toyota Production System management philosophy. Genie had incorporated aspects of this method into their process with amazing results. Terex saw the value that this philosophy could have to their entire company, and used it to develop their own version, called the Terex Business System, or TBS.

The Terex Advantage

Terex cranes are some of the biggest and most sought-after cranes the world over, and no one offers more Terex boom cranes than Giuffre Bros. Terex cranes deliver an unmatched matched range of lifting capabilities to help you get your lifting jobs done easier, faster and more cost effectively than any other booms on the market.

In addition to selling cranes to Giuffre Bros. that we install on our trucks, Terex also mounts cranes for us, factory direct. The proximity of the Terex plant in Waverly, Iowa makes it easy for us to schedule frequent visits to collaborate on special equipment and pick up completed boom trucks.

This advantage provides our customers with the added benefit from quality oversight, volume purchases and fast delivery. All of our stock boom-truck models feature Terex cranes and are available from 17 to 35 ton capacities.
